Introduction
Hi, I’m Maria.
I am an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist and Substance Abuse Counselor with specialized training in substance abuse, trauma-informed care, co-occurring disorders, and working with the LGBTQ+IA community. My passion lies in creating safe, supportive spaces for healing and growth, especially for individuals navigating multiple challenges at once.
My clinical experience includes providing psychotherapy for children ages 0–18, as well as working with adults and adolescents in substance abuse treatment programs. I have supported clients dealing with co-occurring disorders, helping them develop healthier coping strategies and move toward meaningful change.
I earned my Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology with a focus on Marriage and Family Therapy from Pepperdine University. I recently graduated with my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in Los Angeles. I also hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Substance Abuse Counseling Certification from California State University, Dominguez Hills. Beyond clinical work, I’ve conducted research within both the LGBTQ+IA and Latinx communities, which has strengthened my dedication to providing inclusive and culturally responsive care.
My areas of interest and expertise include:
